Habanos introduces new cigar classification

Habanos S.A., the worldwide distribution company of Habanos has simplified the way it classifies cigars. There are now two main categories: Global Brands and Portfolio Brands. The Portfolio Brands’ category is further split into three segments: Value Brands, Volume Brands and Other Brands.

Previously, the 27 well-known Cuban cigar brands were classified as Global Brands, Niche Brands, Multi-Local-Brands and Local Brands. This classification system had however lost its meaning for consumers in recent years so the new classification system has been welcomed by the industry and Cuban cigar consumers.
